100 Meter Dash
Washington's Jasmyn Hosby sped away to the title with a time of 12.23, which gives makes her Tied for the 4th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and Tied to the 4th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Musselman's Tara Sharpe came in under 12.50 with her 12.45. Parkersburg's Janey Hall and Wheeling Park's Austyn Creighton also run under 12.60.

200 Meter Dash
Washington's Jasmyn Hosby proved to be the swiftest of the swift in again taking the 200 Meter Title, giving her two titles for the day. Her 25.43 led four runners under the 26 second barrier.

400 Meter Dash
Hurricane's Josie Crouch re-claimed the 400 Meter title that she lost last year. Four girls came through under 60 seconds. Crouch was under 58 with her 57.91. Fairmont Senior's Alyssa Scherich came through under 59 with her 58.93.

800 Meter Run
Hurricane's Josie Crouch won the 800 for the 3rd time. She went out in 62 in an attempt to go for the record. Her 2:13.67 came up just 0.08 short. That time stands as the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Elkins' Letitia Propst outkicked Musselman's Whitney Lewis for 2nd. Propst's time of 2:17.71 is the 10th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Lewis came through in 2:18.36. The top 6 were all under 2:23, and the top 8 were all under 2:24.

1600 Meter Run
Hurricane's Alex Dent took the field out quickly. She went through the first lap in 70 seconds. Elkins' Letitia Propst, Jefferson's Alyssa Boucher and Ripley's Brandy Gandee came through in 1:12. After two laps, Dent still led at 2:30. Propst was still close behind in 2:32. Gandee crossed in 2:33. After three laps, Dent had extended her lead to five seconds over Propst and Gandee, crossing in 3:52. Jefferson's Andrea Nickerson came through in 3:59. At the finish line, Dent squeezed in under 5:10 with a 5:09.60. Propst and Nickerson engaged in a furious kick to the finish that almost reeled in Dent. Propst crossed in 5:10.15, just over a half second behind Dent. Nickerson crossed in 5:11.97. Fairmont Senior's Chelsea Clark and Boucher finished under 5:20, and Gandee was just over that mark. 13 runners came in under 5:30.

3200 Meter Run
Hurrican's Alex Dent led the field through the first lap in 1:17. After two laps, it was Dent in 2:40 with Elkins' Letitia Propst and Jefferson's Alyssa Boucher just a second behind. Those three continued to lead through 3 laps with Dent in 4:01, Propst in 4:02, and Boucher in 4:03. At the 1600 Meter mark, Dent had stretched the lead to 2 seconds, coming through in 5:24. Propst was 2 seconds back, but she had generated a 3 second gap on Boucher. Parkersburg's Madison Hill was just 2 seconds behind Boucher. After 5 laps, Dent had stretched the lead to 5 seconds. Boucher remained within 3 seconds of Propst. Hill remained 2 seconds behind Boucher. After 6 laps, Dent had increased her lead to 9 seconds. Propst still led Boucher by 3 seconds. Boucher had stretched her lead over Hill to 4 seconds. Lap 7 saw Dent increase her lead to 11 seconds. Propst led Boucher by 4 seconds. Hill started to fade, and Fairmont Senior's Chelsea Clark had come into the picture, just 3 seconds behind hill. At the finish line, Dent just missed breaking the 11:00 barrier. Her 11:00.56 is the 5th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 3rd Best Class AAA All-Time State Meet Performance. Letitia Propst crossed in 11:08.45 to give her the 9th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 7th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Boucher came through in under 11:20. Clark used a strong last lap to come in under 11:30. Hill came through under 11:40. The first 8 were 11:45 or better.

100 Meter High Hurdles
Wheeling Park's Austyn Creighton pulled away late for the win in 15.04, which is the 9th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 8th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Jefferson's Taylor Brown was right on her heels in 15.09 and Woodrow Wilson's Olivia Moore was very strong as well, coming through in 15.13. One of my predicted placers did not run.

300 Meter Low Hurdles
Jefferson's Taylor Brown pulled away down the stretch to defend her title. Her time of 44.61 gives her a tie for the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and a tie for the 3rd Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Buckhannon-Upshur's Emily Goodwin was less than a second behind with her 45.43, which stands as the 10th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Fairmont Senior's Alyssa Scherich and Preston's Andrea Jones came through under 47.

4x100 Meter Relay
Morgantown won a tight battle with Woodrow Wilson as both posted stellar times. Morgantown's 48.91 is the 2nd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Woodrow Wilson's 49.26 is the 4th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 4th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Martinsburg won a tight battle for 3rd over Washington and Wheeling Park. The 3 were separated by just 0.10.

4x200 Meter Relay
Woodrow Wilson won this round of the battle with Morgantown as they both posted stellar times here as well. Woodrow Wilson ran a 1:43.74 which stands as the 2nd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Morgantown's 1:44.19 stands as the 8th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 8th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance.

4x400 Meter Relay
John Marshall doesn't have anyone that can run a 57, but they do have a couple that can run 60 and a couple that can run 63. That depth is plenty to give them a 4:05.99 and a state championship. Buckhannon-Upshur gave them a run, finishing just 0.32 behind in 4:06.31. Hurricane used a 57.something anchor leg from Josie Crouch to move into 3rd as Hurricane and Jefferson also come through under 4:10.

4x800 Meter Relay
Hurricane took the lead on the 2nd leg and never looked back. Josie Crouch's 2:15 3rd leg put them well out in front. Their 9:35.78 gave them the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Buckhannon-Upshur was 8 seconds back, and University was under 9:50 as well. Jefferson and John Marshall came through under 10:00.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
This very hot race saw three teams crack the All-Time State Meet list. Buckhannon-Upshur pulled Emily Goodwin from the 100HH and inserted her into the Shuttle unit. That was enough to push them over the top and to the title in a State Meet Record time of 1:04.13. That time gives them the Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Jefferson's 1:04.87 gives them the 7th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 7th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. John Marshall's 1:04.91 makes them Tied for the 8th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and Tied for the 8th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Wheeling Park and Cabell Midland both ran under 1:06.

High Jump
Buckhannon-Upshur's Emily Godwin and Preston's Paula Renteria were the only jumpers to clear 5'4. Buckhannon-Upshur's Lauren Cvechko was the only other jumper to clear 5'2.

John Marshall's Kiley Defibaugh and Jefferson's Kaitlyn Clark were the only vaulters to clear 10'0, and they both cleared 10'6 with Defibaugh winning on misses. Defibaugh's vault gives her the 8th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Clark's vault gives her the 9th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance.

Long Jump
Morgantown's Alexandria Allen defended her title with a lead of 17'5.75. John Marshall's Julie Young was the only other jumper to go past 17'. Lewis' Shardinae Adams, Wheeling Park's Alicia Bonar and Parkersburg's Meghan Ruddlesden each jumped over 16'6.

Shot Put
Buckhannon-Upshur's Karissa Knabenshue tossed the shot 41'3.25. This gave her the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Her throw was nearly 3 feet further than runner-up Sarah Fisher of Wheeling Park. Only Jefferson's Kiana Weller through further than 36' among the remaining competitors.

Discus
Wheeling Park's Sarah Fisher knocked off Buckhannon-Upshur's Karissa Knabenshue by just 2 inches. Buckhannon-Upshur's Susie Godwin and Mercedes Dowell finished 3rd and 4th, respectively to make this a huge event for Buckhannon-Upshur.
